Kigali to Nairobi,
by way of HEC.

I spent all my adolescent years in Kenya, studying in high school, a minor seminary to be specific. And when I went back to Rwanda, I spent the next several years quietly planning to return. Now I am back to finish something that felt unfinished.

The work became the credential.

I got my first job at nineteen, at Girl Effect in Kigali as an Assistant Scriptwriter, without a degree and without much experience. What I had were short stories I had been writing privately for years. They were enough to get me in the door. I dropped out of university not long after. Couldn't do both.

From there, I've now spent seven years at YLabs, majority of which has been helping build CyberRwanda — Rwanda's first self-care digital platform for young people. I wrote tons of webcomics for it, shaped the content strategy, and a bunch of other things. I'm now in comms.

MSc at HEC Paris. The business of building.

I write fiction too though. Three short stories published in print anthologies, and more hopefully will be joining the list. I write because I have to, not because it connects to anything else. But I have found that it does, eventually. I am now studying for an MSc in Innovation and Entrepreneurship at HEC Paris, learning the business side of building things that last. And I am working toward a studio as well. Film, documentary, series. Stories about Kenya, Rwanda, the past we have forgotten, and the people we don't see.

The talent has always been here. I'm building the infrastructure.

That is what I am working toward.
